Tournament Format

Open Base Tournament

In the Open Base Tournament, you play three rounds against randomized opponents. These opponents are announced at the start of each round on the qualifying day in #tournament-announcements.

In order to qualify for the finals you need to complete all 3 rounds on the qualifying day. You may play all the qualifying days for league points but only your best attempt counts towards the rankings for the Finals.

Game Settings

The game settings for all games in the tournament are the same. However, accommodations may be given to those who need it. In these cases the tables will be notified by a @Host in the tournament table chat. It is everyone's responsibility to check that these are correct before starting the game.

Rankings

You are playing to win and to qualify for a spot to be 1 out of the 64 who will play in the semi-finals. The rankings are based on:

  1. Total wins
  2. Total victory points
  3. Table point percentage
  4. Table points
  5. Point difference

Brackets

Based on the overall rankings players will be divided into four brackets:

Day Finals

On the qualifying days except when semi-finals and finals are being played a day final will be held with the top 4 ranked from the day. The winner of that match will receive a Cash Tournament Ticket worth $5! This can be used as an entry to one of our Cash Tournaments.

Semi-Finals

There will be semi-finals where the winner will go to the finals within their own bracket.

The first round starts with the Grand Finals and as soon as they have started the following bracket will be announced, and so on. This is to ensure that all players are present and to see if a Back-Up Hero is needed. In such a case that spot will go to the next highest ranked player.

Finals

The 4 winners of the semi-finals of each group will play against each other in their respective bracket finals. The finals of the lower brackets can start as soon as the other semi-finals within the bracket have finished, and the winners have been established and the tables assigned.

Open Cities & Knights Tournament

In the Open Cities & Knights Tournament Tournament, you play two rounds against randomized opponents. These opponents are announced at the start of each round on the qualifying day in #tournament-announcements.

In order to qualify for the finals you need to complete both rounds on the qualifying day. You may play all the qualifying days for league points but only your best attempt counts towards the rankings for the Finals.
